Earlier this morning, looking to the western horizon one sees the moon setting along with a friend, the far-away gas giant Jupiter. With even a weak set of binoculars you should be able to see a couple of Jupiter’s four easily-observable moons.
Dear Democrats: Your guy got re-elected but there’s still drone strikes and the war in Afghanistan and the NDAA and the rapid erosion of civil liberties and expansion of the USA PATRIOT Act and the administration’s assurance that it will ignore the rights of voters in Colorado and Washington and occasionally raid a dispensary in other states… wait a second, did Romney win?
The only plan Republicans have is to move massive amounts of wealth from the working classes to the rulings class and it’s already hard at work. The way they’ve done this is by convincing Joe the Plumber that if he works hard enough, and the government stays out of his way, he will earn untold riches thus attaining the American Dream. That there’s a glass ceiling there Joe hasn’t yet figured out. But just in case he starts asking questions the ruling class gives us Wal*Marts. (In the old days … [Read More]
I watched Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” this evening while you all were playing cheerleaders for Goldman Sachs. You know how, at the end of “Prometheus” the creature from “Alien” is born? See that creature? That’s what the two mainstream political parties in the US look like to me. Because, let’s face it, that’s what they are. Vote your conscience, not your fears. … [Read More]
Presidential candidate Jill Stein was arrested just a little while ago at Hofstra University by Nassau County police for attempting to participate in the Presidential debate this evening. Mind you, Ms. Stein is on the ballot in enough states to win the election. What is it that the two-party system fears so much from Ms. Stein? Middle Class this! Middle Class that! Would someone please define “Middle Class” to me? It seems it’s so widely applied that 95% of Americans fall into the definition and that is clearly not correct.
Based on 2003 numbers (I’m lazy and it hasn’t changed much) I’d run my classifications this way:
$0 to $25,000 (28%)
$25,000 to $50,000 (27%)
$50,000 to $75,000 (18%)
$75,000 to $100,000 (11%)
$100,000 to $149,000 (11%)
$145,000 and more (5%)I’d concur household earning between $25,000 and $75,000 qualifies as “middle income”. But that’s not the way politicians want you to think as they’re always concerned about $250,000 earners being “middle income”.
On Tuesday, August 28th, an asteroid measuring nearly 1km a cross will slam into the earth. Where that will happen NASA isn’t quite sure but projections so far see somewhere around west-central Florida. Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan was asked if the Republican Convention, currently directly in the path of the asteroid, would be called off. Mr. Ryan said, “If it’s an intentional impact than the earth has a way of healing itself. Besides, Mitt’s campaign will be handing out Temple Garments to all his delegates so we’ll be fine.” … [Read More]
