County Republicans Missing in Action
I went to the Putnam County Land Trust dinner last evening to find it very well attended. In fact, it was their best attended dinner in 44 years. Awards went to Carmel attorney Victor Grossman and Green Chimney’s Paul Kupchok for their years of service to the Trust and the greater community. The land trust now protects more than 800 acres in our county.
Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney and Assemblywoman Sandra Galef were there, County DA Adam Levy made a long appearance and Southeast Legislator Roger Gross stopped in and Putnam Valley Legislator Sam Oliverio stayed for dinner.
Very notably absent however were Republican County and town leadership because, well, the Young Republican dinner was on the same night and bolstering a wounded political machine was more important than attending to the affairs of state, rubbing shoulders with the electorate and honoring an organization that actually does something for the people of our county.
Strange, too, that this is a political year for many and they failed to make their presence known which they usually do at this event. Even County Executive Maryellen Odell couldn’t be bothered to attend. It’s almost a certainty she’s going to be primaried from within [...]
